Specifications: Crocus sativus, commonly known as autumn crocus, or saffron crocus. Saffron corms can either be planted directly into the ground. Put the corms into the ground at a 10 to 15 cm (3-5 inch) depth leaving a 10cm (3 inch) gap between them. Watering is not necessary, in case of severe drought in September, watering them once will usually be enough. Despite saffron's exotic reputation, it is child's play to grow. This species is neither finicky nor temperamental, it is disease and insect resistant, and it requires little attention year after year.
